Horizons Video: Detecting IC Trojans

Integrated circuits (ICs or “chips”) are the brains for virtually everything electronic, from cell phones, microwave ovens and automobiles to radars, computers and the Joint Strike Fighter jet. In this second Horizons video produced by the School of Engineering, Dr. Mohammad Tehranipoor discusses the detection of malicious hardware “Trojans” in ICs, as well as chip age – an important indicator of recycled chips that may be used in U.S. products such as automotive electronics, where their early expiration can have disastrous consequences.
